Postpartum Doula Services

Why Does a Family Need a Postpartum Doula?

Each woman and family has their own reasons. All of them are good.

Some examples are:
“I am nervous about breastfeeding and I want some extra help.”
“I am adding child number (?) and need an extra pair of hands to help out around the house.”
“My husband needs help around the house.”
“I want someone to be with me so I don’t feel alone.”
“This is our first child and I need someone to show me how to care for my baby.”
“I have anxiety and heard that  Doula care can help prevent Postpartum Depression.”

A Postpartum Doula can help with all of these things and more. You will be able to get the best care for you when you can communicate the reasons of why you want to invite this person into your home.

Hiring a Postpartum Doula is an investment for your families future. Families today are busier and live longer distances from their parents, siblings, aunts and cousins. These typically were the people that used to help the new families during the recovery time after birth.

A Postpartum Doula can assist with light household duties to keep the home operating smoothly giving the new mother a chance to recover fully and most importantly give her and her partner a chance to bond with the new baby and ease into their new parenting rolls.

A Doula is also a resource for information. She does not make diagnosis but can help direct you to reputable information and support systems.

Interview a couple of Doulas and choose the person that you feel most comfortable with. This person is going to be in your home for a number of hours and you need to feel comfortable with that person.

Whomever you choose, your Doula is a special person who cares about the wellbeing of you and your family.
